The Improvement of Mathematics Communication Ability and Mathematics Problem Solving Ability Taught by Realistic Mathematics Education to Students MTs Sinar Islami Bingai

Abstract-The objectives of this research are to observe whether : (1) the improvement of students mathematics communication ability taught by Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) is higher than those taught by conventional learning, (2) the improvement of students mathematics problem solving ability taught by RME is higher than those taught by conventional learning, (3) there is interaction between the learning model with students previous mathematical ability and the improvement of students mathematics communication ability, (4) There is interaction between the learning model with students previous mathematical ability and the improvement of students mathematics problem solving ability. The instruments used in this research were: (1) Mathematics communication ability test, (2) Mathematics problem solving ability test. The teaching materials taught were linier equations and inequalities of one variable and essay test. The population of this research was all students on first state junior high school of MTs Sinar Islami Bingai with experimental sample was 35 students and control sample was 35 students. After analyzed by using two-ways ANAVA, it was obtained that F observed on mathematics communication ability is 41,136 and F observed on mathematics problem solving ability is 4,246.
