THE EFFECT OF STUDENT CREATED CASE STUDY METHOD ON STUDENTS’ WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT ABILITY

The purposes of this research are to find out: Whether there is significant effect of student created case study method on students writing narrative text ability. The population of this research is all of the students that consist of 65 students. Then, the sample is taken from the population by cluster sampling technique and the total sample is 33 students. This study is carried out by using experimental method. To take the data, it is used the instrument by giving observation sheet for student created case study method and test in essay test in writing narrative text. After calculating the data. It is found that 1) the result using student created case study method get the score 3.00 it is categorized “good”, 2) The students’ ability in writing narrative text before using guided teaching strategy get the score is 58.81 it is categorized “low”. 3) The students’ ability in writing narrative text after using student created case study method get the score is 74.98 it is categorized “good”. After analyzing the data, the score of ttest is 3.33. While, the samples are 33 students or N= 33 students. The degree of freedom (df) is N – 1 = 33 – 1 = 32. So, the writer takes the score df of ttable at 5% significant level of number 32 is 2.03. After finding the score of ttest and ttable, both of the scores are compared. It is found that ttest is higher than ttable (ttest > ttable = 3.33> 2.03). It means there is significant effect ofstudent created case study method on students writing narrative text ability. So, the hypothesis in this research can be accepted.
